Fastshifter A4 Hardwood screws 5 × 60 mm are made for dense, hard and exotic timber — the species where an ordinary decking screw either snaps or splits the board. The thread geometry is shaped for hardwood, so the screw drives more easily and the joint stays tight.
The screws are A4 (marine grade) stainless steel, which gives the highest corrosion resistance in the range: suitable for humid and coastal sites and for aggressive outdoor environments. This pack contains 200 pcs.
Key features
- A4 stainless steel — very high corrosion resistance, including humid and coastal conditions.
- Hardwood thread — easier driving and a markedly lower risk of splitting dense timber.
- Reinforced body — designed to work reliably in hard, dense species.
- Firm, stable joint — the board is held without play and without gaps.
- Torx drive — accurate torque control while driving.
- Long service life — no rust streaks on expensive hardwood boards.
Where it is used
- Hardwood decking boards.
- Exotic timber — ipe, garapa, cumaru, bangkirai and similar species.
- Outdoor timber structures where the fixing must outlast the weather.
- Humid, coastal and other demanding environments.
FAQ
Why a dedicated hardwood screw? Dense timber resists the screw far more than softwood. A hardwood thread cuts rather than forces its way in, which lowers driving torque and keeps the board from splitting at the fixing point.
Do I need to pre-drill? In very dense species pre-drilling is still recommended, particularly close to board ends and edges.
Why A4 rather than A2? Hardwood decks are an expensive surface with a long expected life. A4 stainless resists chlorides better than A2, so the fixing does not become the weak point and no rust marks appear around the head.
Can they be used on softwood decking too? Yes — they work in ordinary and thermally modified timber as well, they are simply specified for the harder species.
